A MAN recently arraigned on a murder charge will have to wait until the New Year before his application for bail is heard in the Supreme Court.
Bryant Rolle, 38, was remanded to prison on November 30 when arraigned in Magistrate’s Court concerning the death of Yves Smith on November 25.
According to police reports, Smith was outside a home on Sandilands Village Road when a man that he knew struck him with an object. He was then rushed to hospital in critical condition where he later died.
Rolle was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services but was informed of his right to apply for bail at the Supreme Court until he stands trial.
Rolle made an application that his lawyer Krysta Mason-Smith intended to argue yesterday before Justice Roger Gomez, but the court was not prepared to hear the application until January 7, 2016.
Rolle’s case is to be forwarded to the Supreme Court a week later through the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment on January 14, 2016.
