Have A Heart fundraiser entertains Shirley Street drivers

SHIRLEY Street has been transformed into the entertainment hub of The Bahamas today as Radio House and the Bahamas Heart Association has taken to the streets to raise funds in aid of heart health.

The "Have A Heart" campaign is treating commuters to performances on a specially erected stage by a wealth of local talent as artists like D-Mac and M-Deez have already hit the stage and headliners like Sosaman, Sammi Starr, QPid and Exec are still due up.

A number of the prominent radio DJs and personalities from 100 Jamz, Y98FM and new KISSfm stations are broadcasting live from the event as a continuation of the Tribune Radio Limited's community involvement initiative.

"This event is just been so tremendous, the support from the public, everyone coming out and giving the little they can spare, it has truly been a wonderful event," Bahamas Heart Association president, Thelma Johnson, said.

"Dog don't bark at park car" performer D-Mac called the event "amazing". He said: "To see my Bahamian people banding together for a major cause has just been spectacular. Its always been important to us, the guys in the Rat-Pack to give back, sometimes we forget how important it is to that. At the root of this event is simply one person helping another, the Bahamian way."

Bandmate M-Deez added: "This entire event has been huge. Off the top you have the Heart Foundation on site doing what they do best, working to save lives. A second part to this is you have Radio House lending their support. Radio House has always been huge to The Bahamas, pushing Bahamian music and assisting anywhere they can."

"February is heart month and at Radio House we are dedicated to these community minded events,” said 100 Jamz midday show host JJ McKenzie. "Heart disease is a major illness in our country and we want to find a unique way to help. We wanted to help the Bahamas Heart Association to get their message out.”

All of the Radio House mix shows will be recording live from the block party until 6pm.
