Under surveillance

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I live in Andros, Bonefishing capital of the world. I’m wondering what kind of message we are sending to tourists who are paying top dollars at the peak of our tourist season while green helicopters are flying over our resorts and homes day and night?

Is the government of The Bahamas totally impotent to do anything about this? Is The Bahamas still a colony, or is there a government official that has the balls to stand up for this country?

Still, nothing about the complete surveillance of this country by the monitoring of all phone calls.

It would be expected that a referendum would be placed on the ballot so that Bahamians could decide if the overwhelming US presence should supercede the interests of Bahamians’ quality of life. Would this further democracy, or is this notion of democracy quaint and outdated?

The silence of Bahamian officials is quite telling of their fortitude and patriotism for this country.
