On Da Hook

BOXING Day was not all about celebrating Junkanoo - it was a public holiday and an opportunity for avid fisherman to take advantage of the good weather to hit some of the fishing “hot spots” throughout the Bahamas.

And the fishing lived up to expectation as many boats landed large Wahoo. Shayne Johnson and Michell Carey out with Johnny Knowles landed a 93lb Wahoo near Green Cay, Nassau, while Richard Bowe took a 50lb Wahoo near Clifton Pier, western New Providence.

Bahamas Sport Fishing Network (BSFN) expert Scott Thompson, Gary Sands and Sebastian Bethel also caught a 50lb Wahoo near South Andros.

Todd McKittrick, from Seattle, Washington, landed a beautiful Wahoo and Mahi Mahi on board Local Boy Charters from Hope Town, Abaco.

Another BSFN slideshow - this time a gallery of its best lobster catches in the Bahamas - has gone live on USA Today’s website. To view the photographs visit the Travel section at experience.usatoday.com.
