A FORMER journalist who was mentored by Dr Myles Munroe is using her birthday to pay tribute to him.
Syann Thompson has called on others around the world who were mentored by the leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries International to take part in what she has dubbed “Myles Munroe Lunchtime Moments”.
Dr Munroe was killed in a plane crash on November 9 last year in Grand Bahama, along with his wife Pastor Ruth Munroe, BFMI Senior vice-president Dr Richard Pinder, pilot Stanley Thurston, co-pilot Frakhan Cooper, youth pastors Lavard and Radel Parks, their son Jojo and American visitor Diego Santiago.
Ms Thompson said: “It’s my birthday on February 1, and on Monday, February 2, to mark the occasion, I want to remember a great man who changed my life. Dr Myles Munroe at the end of a church service said many times, tell the person next to you, ‘If you knew who I was, you would take me to lunch today’.”
“I want all my friends and anyone anywhere in the world who was impacted by his life to join me on Monday, February 2, in treating someone to lunch.
“Find someone, anyone, the homeless man on East Street you pass every morning, a co-worker, a sibling, whomever. Let them know that they are a great human being,” said Ms Thompson.
Ms Thompson urged people to tell the person: “I am treating you to lunch, courtesy of Dr Myles Munroe. I believe you are a great human being, but the world doesn’t know it yet.”
She also urged people to take photos and post them on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #MylesMunroeLunchTimeMoments.

I think this is a valiant effort by Ms. Thompson. Maybe this will spur a sustained national campaign to bring national focus on what this man stood for, honesty, integrity and sound principles. I am surprised that Dr. Munroe's teachings is not being duplicated throughout the whole Bahamas to try to heal this nation. In my view he spoke with conviction on a lot of issues affecting our country and to keep his legacy alive can only bring forward positive outcomes for the Bahamas.

Comrade Sister Syann I know you mean well but may I suggest that based on his royal lifestyle of luxury cars, home, cruising around world in his private jet, and final send-off of Comrade Preacherman's Myles, if you and others around the world really want help a Bahamalander, please refocus your wonderful helping spirit, to donate your birthday funds to help the family trying raise $200,000 for Treatment To "Save Life" Of Little Tarique
