THE Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is scheduled to open the main draw of the International Tennis Federation’s Junior Junkanoo Bowl Tennis Tournament at the National Tennis Center 9am today.
The event held its qualifying round featuring a number of Bahamians over the weekend. Players from all around the world are expected to participate in the tournament slated to run through Saturday. The ITF tournament comes on the heels of the Bahamas Junior Nationals last week.
CHAMPION
BOXING SHOW
CHAMPION Amateur Boxing Club is scheduled to hold its ‘Fire’ amateur boxing show 7pm Saturday at the Wulff Road Boxing Square.
In the featured match will be Reggie Danlag against Cameron Collymore.
Awards will be presented to the most improved boxer, most outstanding boxer, best fight and the overall winning trophy. All amateur boxers and boxing clubs are welcome to participate.
Club president Ray Minus Jr sent out a shoutout to coach Kato Ferguson from the Meacher ‘Major Pain’ Major Boxing Club and sponsor PACBO for their participation in New Jersey on May 7. Ferguson accompanied Lennox Boyce from Champion Amateur Boxing Club, who participated in an exhibition match.
While Boyce and Ferguson got a trophy and a plaque, they also got a chance to meet the major of New Jersey at City Hall.
