A TEENAGE boy was yesterday shot multiple times and killed after two gunmen ambushed him and his older brother as they arrived at the home they shared with relatives on Podoleo Street.
While police are withholding his identity, The Tribune understands he is 17-year-old Neko Miller. His 19-year-old brother was unharmed during the incident.
According to officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit, Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, authorities arrived at the scene after receiving several reports of gunfire in the area. The incident happened at around 5pm, police said.
This homicide takes the total of murders for 2015 in the country to 88, according to The Tribune’s records.
“We had two brothers that were walking home,” Chief Supt Rolle said, “one was 17 and the other 19. As they got into their yard two males emerged from a property opposite, both armed with handguns, and began discharging shots in the direction of the males.
“The younger, the 17-year-old, he was struck multiple times to the body and he has expired here at the scene. The elder brother was unharmed. We have him secured at this time.”
Investigators do not have a motive, Chief Supt Rolle said. He appealed to the public to contact authorities with any information they might have to assist in solving this case.

Persons get offended when one speaks out about what is happening in this country today. But the murder count is at 90 with five more full months to go before the end of the year. These constant headlines of young men being murdered day after day cry out more than any billboard that was erected in the country. Then there is the cry of the mothers and other family members that say how their loved one was chased down and shot like a dog in the streets and after two, three four years no information is forth coming from the police. One mother recently indicated that two of her sons and five of their friends have been slayed in less than two years. There has to be something wrong with this. Seriously wrong. Apparently once a person is killed and the report indicated that , "he had been recently released from jail"," was on bail", "had on an ankle monitoring bracelet", "or was known to police." then his cold blooded murder seems to have been justified. Then why is the murder rate increasing? Who was given the authority to execute young, Bahamian men on the streets and even in their own homes and is basing their actions on whose judgment? Time to stand against this wickedness Bahamas. By December 31, 2015 it appears the murder count for 2015 will be 150.

So sad .............. more young people dying before realizing their potential while the old heads running the country into the ground ............ when will the 25-50 year olds get a chance to govern??
