Man’s body found in Abaco

THE body of a man was discovered in waters near the Union Jack Dock in Abaco early Monday morning, police reported.

Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that shortly after 5am, police in Abaco were called out to the Union Jack Dock, where the lifeless body of a man was discovered near the harbour.

She said the man was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Marsh Harbour Clinic. Police are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile police in Grand Bahama have released the identity of the elderly woman who died on Friday following a traffic accident in Freeport as 89-year-old Lynette Kelly, of 129 Wellington Pinder Estates.

The accident occurred at the junction of West Mall and Poinciana Drives around 10am, involving a GMC truck and a Nissan Sentra.

Kelly was one of three passengers injured in the Nissan Sentra and taken to hospital, where she later died. Her death takes the traffic fatality count in Grand Bahama to seven for the year.
