EDITOR, The Tribune.
My wife and two kids, eight and 13, own a 41’ Catamaran “First Wave” managed by Cruise Abaco.
We have an upcoming trip to the Sea of Abaco and with 8 inches of snow I started to look at Barometer Bob weather in anticipation for our Spring Break trip.
Unfortunately, instead of getting excited about the weather, my heart sank at the news of possible development at Little Harbour.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that very few places like Little Harbour exist in the Caribbean any more.
From the minute, we grab a mooring we settle into the charm and safety of this magical harbour.
We always spend at least two, most of the time three nights, to enjoy spotting turtles, the bat caves, walking up to the light house, snorkelling, looking for blue holes topped off by a great dinner or lunch on shore.
It’s with hollow anticipation that I write this and will influence the development of such a gorgeous harbour.
To think of a huge private marina, paved parking lot, light noise, undoubtedly polluted water, the idea of this makes me sick to my stomach.
As my outspoken 13-year-old said, “that sucks” as we discussed the development at one of our favourite harbours this morning.
I’m not confident that this will make a difference but certainly hope that the team copied on this e-mail will see what pleasure Little Harbour brings to this family and the impact that a development would have on this special place.
This goes against everything we love about the Sea of Abaco and can only hope that the developer will reconsider the plans to build a marina.
Please SAVE Little Harbour!
