The Progressive Liberal Party is like a runaway train with no engineer in the caboose, or an airplane out of control without a pilot in the cockpit. The Bahamas is plunging down the mountainside with the precipice in plain sight but there is no one in place who is able to apply the brakes.

In three short years, the PLP has gone from believing in Bahamians to using Bahamians as doormats on which to wipe their feet.

Where is the captain of the Bahamian ship? Where is the leader of the country? Where is Prime Minister Perry Christie? How can he stand silently by and watch his ministers wreck the country?

They talk about thanking the voters for affording them the privilege of being members of the “Honourable” House of Assembly, and then some proceed to dishonour the House by mouthing wilful half truths and outright lies. And when they are caught out, they blithely suggest that they had been told or advised that such was the case.

Are the Bahamian people idiots?

It is my opinion that there are Cabinet Ministers who have been derelict in their duties, have caused the Bahamian taxpayers untold millions of dollars and continue to mislead the Parliament.

But the Prime Minister is either silent, or, when he speaks, he is defensive of his ministers, which suggests that he is complicit in the decisions made. And, if he is not in agreement with the actions of his appointed ministers he should say so and act on his convictions by replacing those persons who step out of bounds.

The late prime minister, Sir Lynden Pindling once suggested to those PLPs who could not fish or cut bait to “get the hell out of the boat”. If they didn’t, I dare say that Sir Lynden was prepared to toss them overboard.

What is Perry Christie prepared to do?

Prime Minister Christie if you are truly concerned about your legacy, let it be known that you stand up for and by The Bahamas and the Bahamian people.
