Massage therapist finds tranquility

SHE HAS had many job titles over the years but above all, for Candice Treco, massage therapy is the one that she has experienced the longest and grown most fond of.

For 13 years Candice worked in the field, practicing at two local spas before branching into her own; a spa, beauty and personal care on-the-go company called Tranquil Moments.

Apart from it being a well paid job, she is amazed at how her hands can ease a person’s pain.

Referencing the mayoclinic.org, Candice said massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine, and studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.

The website stated that some studies have found massage may also be helpful for headaches, insomnia related to stress, digestive disorders, sports injuries and more but beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massage because it often involves caring and comfort.

“I love the fact that I help people. I make people feel better. They walk away being healthier even and that is pleasure in itself. I feel for anything to be a success you have to enjoy whatever it is you’re doing. I can honestly say that I have had only one bad review in my 13 years of massaging. My clients are usually always happy after, relaxed and relieved of discomfort, and that’s all I can ask for,” Candice told Tribune Woman.

She was motivated by a previous employer of ten years, Cleveland Wells, to start Tranquil Moments. Managing a few companies for Mr Wells over the years, Candice always admired how the businessman went after what he wanted, no matter the difficulty.

“I reached a point where I felt the need to grow and knew I couldn’t work for anyone else so my only next step would have to be my own business. God has shown me what true success is and building a relationship with Him has affected me in so many positive ways. My son is another big influence because most of my decisions are based on him and his future,” said Candice.

With the explosive growth of the spa industry, Candice said massage businesses are in greater demand than ever and it continues to grow. Therefore, her goal is to open a spa that offers a wide range of services.

As a freelancer, Candice offers private home/beach massage visits for clients where they can get services that range from Swedish, deep tissue, sports, aromatherapy massages to hot rock and reflexology, cleanser facials, body scrubs, waxing, natural hair treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Sooner rather than later, Candice said she wants to own a spa that will allow her clients access to healthcare services as well. These services will include a chiropractic office, a gym and a health food/supplies store.
