SHAQUILLE Cleare had the better individual performance, but it was Tavario Miller and the No.25 ranked Texas A&M Aggies who came away with the win to advance to the Battle 4 Atlantis semi-final.

Miller finished with a block in the Aggies’ 84-73 win over the Texas Longhorns in the latest installment of the once storied in-state rivalry. Cleare finished with six points and five rebounds. The Aggies remained undefeated on the season at 5-0, while the Longhorns fell to 1-2.

Reigning All-SEC first team guard Danuel House led four Aggies in double figures with 19 points and seven rebounds. Anthony Collins finished with 15 points and six assists, freshman Tyler Davis added 14 points and Admon Glider chipped in with 12 points off the bench.

Eric Davis Jr led the Longhorns with 19 points, Cameron Ridley added 14 and Isiah Thomas finished with 10 points and five assists.

After trailing by as much as 12 in the second half, the Longhorns came within a single possession when Ridley made a turnaround jumper in the lane to trim the deficit (71-68) with 6:28 left to play.

As they did all night, the Aggies would have an answer.

Tonny Torcha-Morelos would make a corner three pointer on the following possession, 74-68.

Collins converted a three-point play to push the lead to nine just two plays later and the Aggies would hold on for the remainder of the game.

Both teams got off to a slow start offensively, with offensive fouls called several times on both sides before Texas A&M went ahead for good.

Cleare checked in near the 15-minute mark, Miller followed for the Aggies shortly after and both players were matched up almost immediately.

Cleare got the better of that matchup with his tip in to make the score 23-15.

Texas would eventually pull within one before House made a three pointer to keep a two-possession lead. DJ Hogg followed with a three from the corner on the ensuing possession and House capped the run with a pull up jumper to go ahead by 10 (47-37) with 1:45 left to play in the half.

They took a 49-41 lead at intermission.

The runs would continue in the second half as A&M would go up by 12, only to have Texas respond and pull within two on a three by Tevin Mack to make the score 55-53. A&M responded with a 9-2 run.

Miller and the Aggies face Gonzaga 1pm today while Cleare and the Longhorns take on Washington at 7pm.
