SAME teams, different location, and much improved result for the Texas Longhorns in their second matchup of the season against the Washington Huskies.

The Longhorns took an 82-70 win in the consolation side of the bracket last night in the Battle 4 Atlantis at the Imperial Arena.

Bahamian Shaquille Cleare finished with five points and five rebounds for the Longhorns.

Eric Davis Jr led Texas with 15 points off the bench, Isaiah Taylor scored 14, Cameron Ridley finished with a double double - 13 points and 11 rebounds - while Javan Felix also came off the bench to score 13.

Andrew Andrews led the Huskies with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists. Marquese Chriss added 15 points and Dejounte Murray finished with 13.

Texas will face the winner of the Michigan/Charlotte matchup.

Cleare checked into the game for the first time at the 15-minute mark in the first quarter. He was active on the offensive glass early on and earned a trip to the free throw line on first possession.

Texas took its first lead by double figures when Tevin Mack made a three pointer to make the score 29-18 with 6:15 left to play in the half.

Davis’ layup put Longhorns up by 15 and they would eventually take a 10 point lead into the half (41-31).

Washington opened the second half on an 11-5 run and a three pointer at the top of the key from Chriss brought them within four (46-42).

Washington came within four before a Felix three pushed the margin back to seven (60-53).

Texas regained their double-digit lead for the first time in the second half on a follow up slam dunk by Ridley (64-53).

The Huskies would stage a late rally, pulling within six after a pair of triples from Andrews but the Longhorns were able to close out the game down the stretch at the free throw line.

In the opening game this season for both teams, the Huskies scored a 77-71 win over the Longhorns in Shanghai, China.

While in China, both teams spent a day at the Hangzhou headquarters of Chinese tech giant Alibaba Group, which partnered with the Pac-12 Conference to organise the game.
