ATTORNEY and environmental activist Romi Ferreira has joined the Free National Movement, according to a statement from the party.
Mr Ferreira is also an ecologist and television host of “Bahamas At Sunrise”.
In making the announcement, FNM Chairman Michael Pintard noted Mr Ferreira’s dual expertise in ecology and law makes him an ideal resource, strengthening the party’s platform in the core areas of energy reform, sustainable development and environmental justice.
In joining the FNM, Mr Ferreira said: “Our country is headed in the direction of reduced economic activity, high unemployment, increased poverty levels, and an unacceptable level of criminal activities. We need new direction.
“I therefore call on all Bahamians to join with the Free National Movement to arrest this drift and put our county on a path of sustainable development, peace and prosperity.”
In February 2004, Mr Ferreira founded Ferreira & Company, Environmental Attorneys & Consultants. He is married to Erica Pople-Ferreira and has five children.
