SWIFT Swimming is pleased to announce the appointment of Allan Murray as head coach of its Nassau division, according to a press release.

“Murray has proven himself as a professional swim coach, having been involved in coaching at different intervals over the past 15 years, after hanging up his swim suit as one of the country’s top Olympic swimmers in 2000.

“Murray coached Nikia Deveaux to the Olympic Games in 2004 as the first Bahamian female swimmer to represent the country at the Olympics. Nikia was also the first female swimmer in the Bahamas to break the one-minute barrier in the 100 freestyle. Murray also led the Barracuda Swim Club to several National Championships after retiring from competitive swimming. He is well qualified to lead Swift to even greater heights after a year that saw Swift win its fifth consecutive national title,” said the release.
