SHOWING every teenage girl their worth, value and purpose is the goal of a nationwide empowerment tour that hopes to uplift and motivate young women.
The Everyone Counts organisation has partnered with Ladies of Favor Inc to bring the movement to the Bahamas, starting with their September 25 event at New Light Ministries in New Providence.
During the conference, teens will showcase their talents through the spoken word, song and dance. There will also be a panel of empowerment speakers who will discuss issues surrounding self-worth, goal setting, purpose, passion and much more.
Nyoka Anderson, founder of Everyone Counts and Ladies of Favor Inc, told Tribune Woman that the empowerment tour will be a life-changing experience for girls.
The tour will target teenage girls, she said, because the future rests in their hands.
“We want our youth, and especially our young girls, to know that they matter, regardless of what others may say or do. Our goal is to reach and positively influence teen girls and young women in the Bahamas, starting with New Providence, by inspiring them to change their mindset about themselves and others,” said Ms Anderson.
“We believe that with purposeful interactions, testimonies and relatable information, the attendees’ mindset will change. I know after this event each girl that attends will think differently. The event is set up in a way to be intriguing, engaging and life-changing. I believe the attendees will be receptive of the sessions and all activities planned for that day, and everything will be relatable to them.”
Since its establishment in 2012, Everyone Counts has provided back-to-school supplies for over 300 children and has helped many single women through the Social Services programme. The organisation has also provided food supplies for over 100 families during thanksgiving seasons.
Earlier this year, Everyone Counts held its first women’s empowerment event entitled “When Life Throws You Lemons”, an event designed to empower and equip women with the tools and inspiration to deal with spiritual, financial and relationship “lemons”.
More than 50 women attended and left with a new insight into how to positively deal with life’s obstacles and let-downs.
The organisation continues to do its primary work by hosting monthly mentorship programmes for women, teens and children, to inspire them to recognise their true self-worth and help them understand their human rights.
Meetings are hosted on a monthly basis. For more information about the organisation contact everyonecounts@live.com.
