THREE men were granted $5,000 bail in Magistrates Court on Friday after pleading not guilty to theft of more than $24,000 worth of food from a major distribution company.
Marvin Brown, 37, Courtney Johnson, 25, and Roland Clarke, 59, stood before Magistrate Samuel McKinney together charged with stealing by reason of employment.
It is alleged that between November 2015 and January 2016 they stole "338 cases of Confidence Chicken (whole), 67 cases of Beef Oxtail, 39 cases of Lamb Carcass, 49 cases of Chicken Wings, 79 cases of Shrimp P & D, cases of diced fries, 120 cases of crinkle cut fries and 10 cases of Lamb chop loin" belonging to Bahamas Food Services.
The items have a combined value of $24,154.17. They denied the allegation.
Brown was further charged with receiving Chicken Grillers and two sealed centre-cut steaks, knowing the items had been obtained through the commission of an offence. He also denied this claim.
Their trial date was fixed for March 15 and Magistrate McKinney granted the trio $5,000 bail with a suretor.
The former BFS employees face upwards to five years imprisonment if convicted of the charges.
Sergeant Philip Davis prosecuted the case.
