The voice of Bahamians

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Truly I am amazed at a very significant issue that transpired in the Holy Bible. It involves the last days of Jesus Christ on earth.

Now Pontius Pilate (Roman Governor) after consultation with his wife who pleaded with him to reconsider and to cancel the painful and humiliating act he and others had in mind for Jesus for she thought and knew within her humble heart that Jesus was an innocent man.

Therefore, Pontius reconsidered and thus washing his hands clean of having any “horse in the race” went to the people and asked for their decision. We know the rest.

Thus went the first referendum. The people had spoken. Yes, the people had spoken but only to a heedless and arrogant government. Speak again people – thunderously for democracy – for the people by the people and because of the people.

Yea the Jews did participate according to their law, for the penalty of blasphemy was death by crucifixion. They thought themselves genuinely justified as no man dare proclaim himself to be God. In so doing, Jesus bearing all this pain, suffering and humiliation still prays to His Father to forgive them. He knew that they did not realise who he truly was. He had fulfilled His purpose, Mission and His Father’s Will.

I wonder now, when will this government honestly consider the humble, peaceful and prosperous will of their people?

Jesus suffered his penalty innocently. Pray tell me, how will this not so innocent government group of representatives suffer and absorb their penalty?

Speak again Bahamians, this time with a true vision, democratic freedom with the power of the pen, ink and paper!

Yours as ever, Patriotically,

ALLEZ X
