Those whose crimes escape grip of the law have still sinned

By Canon S Sebastian Campbell

WHAT are some of the identifiable, quiet criminal attitudes which raise their heads in private and sometimes hide behind less prominent persons?

Today we begin with 25 common crimes, unpunished, yet ironically glorified as acceptable behaviour:

  1. Engaging in sexual intercourse for jobs or promotion on the job.

  2. Believing that connection carries more weight than education.

  3. Believing it’s all right to use others to get what you want.

  4. Unwed teachers who are expecting mothers daily teaching students right from wrong.

  5. Having an employee train another, then promote the trainee above the trainer.

  6. Being unfair then talk your way out.

  7. For a girl to get married and exchange the attention of many men for the inattention of one.

  8. A beautiful, educated woman getting pregnant in the hope of trapping a husband.

  9. Men who are sperm donors; impregnating but not marrying the woman, yet using the title of father.

  10. Denying children their God-given right of having both parents under the same roof.

  11. Parents urging their children to make children only so that they may glory in becoming grandparents.

  12. Striking others down in word or by the stroke of a pen to make yourself look good

  13. Making promises you do not intend to keep.

  14. Parents not leading their children to God.

  15. Food stores selling rotten food; dates having expired, then calling it a deal.

  16. Calling good evil and evil good depending on what’s in it for you.

  17. Holding the spirit of revenge waiting to use it.

  18. Using your authority to frighten others out of their rights.

  19. Taking advantage of and passing over productive but quiet workers, but praise and promote the flamboyant, noisy, immoral trouble-maker.

  20. Slowly but surely destroying your life with forbidden food and drinks.

  21. America’s fast foods overtaking the market at the expense of Bahamian cuisine.

  22. Our inability to change and explore other options.

  23. Gullible Bahamians who are led out of their churches into the clutches of one of the many personality cults disguised as churches.

  24. Christians without a life of study.

  25. A bigot who thinks God smiles with him.

Are all criminals ever brought to justice? Your response will determine where we go next.
