When they responded, officers saw two men allegedly behaving suspiciously in a black Honda Accord. The men fired gunshots at the officers and quickly sped away, leading police on a high-speed chase.
The chase continued throughout the Carmichael Road area onto Tonique Williams-Darling Highway when the vehicle turned off the track road and came to a stop. Both suspects fled the vehicle on foot.
Officers chased the car and arrested one of the suspects hiding in nearby bushes. Shortly afterward, officers found the other suspect in a nearly community.
Police searched the vehicle and recovered an AK-47 assault rifle with 19 rounds of ammunition along with a nine-millimeter handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition. The two suspects are assisting police with their investigations into a number of serious crime related incidents.
