A Royal Bahamas Defence Force officer must apply for bail to the Supreme Court having been denied a bond when he was arraigned on two firearm related offences in Magistrate’s Court.
Anthony Jennings, 22, was taken to the Nassau and South Streets court complex around 4.45pm Wednesday to stand before Magistrate Constance Delancy on a charge each of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
The allegations stemmed from an alleged argument that occurred on Sunday, September 25, and could see him facing a fine and/or up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Jennings is alleged to have been found with a black and silver .40 pistol and two live .40 bullets for the weapon.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Jennings was informed that he would stand trial on December 6.
As the lower court no longer has the discretion to consider bail on the offences, Jennings was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services to await trial.
However, he does have the right to apply for a bond to the Supreme Court.
