THE murder trial of former Queen’s College elementary teacher Joyelle McIntosh resumes today before Justice Bernard Turner.

Starting at 10.30am, Justice Turner is expected to begin summing up the evidence to the jury and further direct them on the evidence with regards to the law.

Armando Sergeant of Kemp Road, Johnny Mackey of Bonaby Alley, and a teenager who cannot be named because he was charged as a minor, are the three people accused of the November 11, 2015 murder of McIntosh.

It is alleged the teenager, who was 17 at the time of the incident, along with Sergeant and Mackey, attempted to rob McIntosh, at gunpoint, of her 2009 silver coloured Toyota Corolla worth $6,000.

During the failed carjacking, the victim was shot multiple times in her head and body. She later crashed into a wall at the intersection of Parkgate and Village Roads.

All three accused have denied the allegations, and while taking the witness stand previously, each said they were beaten by police to give false confessions concerning their alleged involvement in the crime.

Viola Barnett and Akeyra Saunders represent the Crown. David Cash, Sonia Timothy and Dorsey McPhee represent Sergeant, the teenager, and Mackey, respectively.
