NPBA ACTION
THE University of the Bahamas Mingos and the Commonwealth Bank Giants won the New Providence Basketball Association’s double header at AF Adderley Gym Monday night.
The Mingos defeated the Island Game Pros 78-64 and the Giants routed the PJ Stingers 91-75.
Mingos 78, Pros 64: Justin Smith, playing 36 minutes, scored a game high 29 points in shooting 10-for-16 from the field, 3-for-7 from the three-point line and 6-for-8 from the free throw line to lead the University of the Bahamas. Smith also had six rebounds, six steals and three assists.
Kemsy Sylvestre added 29 points with 16 rebounds, five steals and a block, Reuben Goodman had 14 points and five rebounds and Brian Jennings and Davon Adderley both had four points with six and five rebounds respectively with two steals apiece.
In a losing effort, Derrick Ferguson had 21 points, shooting 6-for-22 from the field, 5-for-14 from the three-point arch and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe to pace Island Game.
Sandy Rolle had 14 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists; Chico Francis had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists and Duran Burrows chipped in with 11 points, 18 rebounds, four blocks and three assists.
The stats for the Commonwealth Bank-PJ’s game was not available.

SATURDAY TOURNEY
THERE shall be a private handicap (%70) mini tournament on Saturday at 1pm. The entry fee shall be $40 per person with $200 guaranteed to first place (based on 20 people). 1 out of 4 bowlers will cash out.
The tournament shall consist of 3 (or 2) rounds. Round 1 - 3 games then cut straight to cash round. Round 2 - (22 or more bowlers) - 1 game elimination round. Round 3 – stepladder.

CITY BOWLING LEAGUE
THE most valuable player (MVP) in City Bowling League competition last night was Sonith Lockhart of Carib Construction with a 236 second high game and a 644 high three game set.
The runner-up was Derrick Burrows of Fresh Blend Rolling Stones with a 245 high game and a 629 second high set.
The leader in the ladies’ category was Driskell Rolle of TK Falcons with a 203 second high game and a 557 high three game set.
Angie Smith of NUA Crusaders followed with a 550 second high set. Uchenna Delva of Island Game Strokers downed the pins for the gigantic high game of 243.
Team scores for the evening were as follows:
