A cruel analogy

EDITOR, The Tribune.

AS an animal lover, I find the analogy “many ways to skin a cat” alarming made by the Minister of Tourism in the Business Section of today’s Tribune.

One would’ve thought a statement like that would be made by a yahoo and a juvenile but for a Minister of such a vital Ministry it’s unacceptable. This Minister reminds me of asinine statements made by Leslie Miller when he condemned all gay people.

Those wanting to do business in The Bahamas haven’t forgotten Miller’s vitriol and refused to do business with The Bahamas. So, too, will animal lovers who are prospective investors might not want to do business here either because this Minister’s horrible analogy. I am concerned that the Bahamas Humane Society has not made a statement condemning the Minister.

Unfortunately its a 'dog-eat-dog' world out there and I don't think it's necessary to 'flog a dead horse' here. 'Going ape' over something like this just isn't worth it. 'Pulling the tiger by the tail' or 'hitting the bull's-eye' also sound hurtful for the animals concerned. 'Like lambs to the slaughter' it may be best for you to 'get off of your high horse' rather than try 'make a mountain out of a molehill'. Animal idioms when taken in the spirit intended are such fun, aren't they? Please lighten up - life's too short!
