ANOTHER Bahamian basketball standout will have the opportunity to use the sport as a vehicle to further his academic and athletic career.
Glenroy Rolle is expected to join the State Fair Community College Roadrunners' men's basketball programme this fall.
Rolle, the 6'7" Exuma native, completed his high school career with Vision Prep in Richmond, Kentucky, and locally was a memebr of the St George's Jaguars.
State Fair College, located in Sedalia, Missouri, competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 16 and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference.
State Fair Community College Roadrunners basketball head coach Matt Brown announced Rolle as one of six additions to the Roadrunners 2017-2018 recruiting class, which includes three freshmen and three sophomores.
"Glenroy is an excellent rebounder who runs the floor and scores around the basket," said Roadrunners' assistant coach Adam Short. "He will be a good teammate and will work hard in the classroom."
Rolle took to social media to express his thanks to those who have helped him to reach the current destination on his basketball journey.
"First of all I would like to thank God for blessing me beyond measures, then I would like to thank my family and friends, especially my parents, for believing in me throughout my whole life. I would like to send a special thank you to Mrs Joe, the only teacher I ever had in my whole life that helped me to the very finish and would do anything to see me do something with my life.
"Then I would like to thank the Durham family for taking me in when I didn't have anywhere to go. Next I would like to thank all the coaches that helped me to get to this point. Last, but not least, I would like to thank all the coaches that have recruited and offered me," he said in a post on Instagram.
At Vision Prep, under head coach Cameron Jackson, Rolle averaged 19.5 points, pulled down 12.8 rebounds and recorded 1.9 blocks per game as a senior. He was the leading scorer and earned the highest field-goal percentage award. He also recorded the most rebounds and blocked shots.
Last season, the fourth-seeded Roadrunners lost 100-82 to the top-seeded and 16th-ranked Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds on March 3 in a Region 16 championship semi-final round at Lincoln University to conclude their season.
They look for Rolle and the remainder of the recruiting class to improve upon last year's 11-19 record.
