Murder victims identified by police

POLICE have released the identities of two recent murder victims.

The man who died in hospital on Saturday has been identified as Okel Solomon, 45, of Laird Street. According to police, Solomon showed up at the Southern Police Station shortly after 11pm, after being shot during a failed carjacking. He told police he was in his car at the junction of East Street and Brougham Street when he was approached by two men with firearms who demanded he give them his car.

He said after he declined and was driving off, one of the men fired a shot at him. Paramedics assisted the man to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Police have also released the identity of man who was killed on January 20. He is Milsade Ulysees, 36, of Rupert Dean Lane. According to initial police reports, Ulysees was shot around 6am while at Rupert Dean Lane. He was one of two men fatally shot on January 20, in separate incidents.

A man was charged in Magistrate's Court yesterday in connection to Ulysees' murder.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call police.
