Water Corp In Visit To Uk Counterparts

Members of the Water and Sewerage Corporation's (WSC) Board and executive management are visiting counterparts in the UK in a bid to improve service efficiencies.

While meeting various water utilities and regulators, the delegation also met Ellison Greenslade, the Bahamas' High Commissioner, at the High Commission in London.

The WSC evolved from the Ministry of Works as a water department, and has been in existence since 1973.

It is seeking further knowledge and understanding of water and sanitation services as it bids to introduce best practices, and establish long-term relationships with other water utilities.

From Left: Anthony Stuart (High Commission); Bennett Minnis (WSC Board); Ellison Greenslade; Marchea Mackey (High Commission); Wilfred Adderley (High Commission); Adrian Gibson, MP (WSC executive chairman);; Leslie Hutchinson (WSC); John Bowleg (WSC); Elwood Donaldson (WSC general manager).

Here we go again. Damn! Can't any of these VAT travellers READ? Aren't there such things as reports on water management on line, books, cd's, videos, whatever?

I am a fan of Adrian Gibson but these traveling entourages at our expense have to stop. The Prime Minister had a 15 member entourage going to caricom, should have been at most 5 people. The optics are terrible and the FNM are doing the same thing they criticized the PLP for, what hypocrites! We are in a serious fiscal crisis why in hell are we WASTING money we do not have to pay for all these deadbeats to travel? Mr. Gibson stop these stupid photo ops, you want tax payers to be happy fire half of these people, and stop pissing us off wasting money on these pleasure trips for deadbeats.

How is the country/company/citizen to improve or become more exposed and knowledgable if one does not travel and compare oneself with those who have set high standards????? ..... There is nothing wrong with these trips ........ If it is means a transfer of knowledge and skills to the local utility partner (WSC)

CASE IN POINT: Fitzgerald travelled every year to one of the top countries for education ....... but what have we gotten for those travels?????? ........... a national high school diploma??????

Stop making excuses for this profligate waste of taxpayer dollars, if it was wrong for the PLP then it is wrong for the FNM. Read, research the internet, call on the phone or limit the entourage size. We are borrowing money for these trips!

Based on your answer ....... there is NO reason for overseas govt trips ........ That is not how international politics and trade operate ........ Maybe in your career field

I am sick and tired of paying taxes for these pleasure trips. This corporation loses tens of millions of dollars a year, every year. Stop wasting our damn money. Funny ( sad) how when the PLP wastes money on travel it is corrupt and wrong but when the FNM does the same damn thing they criticize it is just fine and dandy for you FNM partisans. This is a big reason this country is in the shit it is in. I like Adrian Gibson a lot, but I will tell him to his face it is wrong. Same way the NIB office in Long Island just happens to be moving to a building he owns. It is wrong, it is corrupt, a terrible conflict of interest. He will be lambasted for this too, this is a new day even some FNMs now put country and right before party. Very disappointed in him, expected much better.

They have people within the WSC who have been to these courses or had the IADB come to the WSC and explain how to reduce losses and improve service and product. Or they could have flown a few Englishmen out here who work at these water companies to explain how they operate; they'd be happy to come to the Tropics for a week or less. Or they could have arranged video conferencing for the Englishmen to explain their system to the Bahamians. How many of Gibson's entourage work for WSC versus sit on the Board?
