THIS all-out war between the gaming houses and the Bahamas Government is good example of what happens when one entity is struck by power and makes risky, uncalculated decisions without any considerations to consult the other.
To impose taxes and not warn the industries that it would more directly affect is not something we, the people, expected from this administration. The FNM government evidently did not learn from their predecessor to avoid committing the same mistakes. This isn’t transparency. This is utter chaos.
I’ve heard the Minister denounce speculations that they’re jealous and this war is not race related, but one had to wonder what is at the root of these decisions to over tax the rich and the impose taxes on the middle class and the poor. Is it about equity? Or, is about withholding wealth from the average day Bahamian?

No argument with your premise re. the FNM. However, to classify the gaming business as an "industry" is a bit off. There is no reason that the gaming houses should be in "business". The people voted against it. The people could have a national lottery. The same ones who "own" the web shops now, should actually be in jail if we were a law abiding country. This racism stuff about keeping our own people down is showing how poor we are in making a cogent argument. This whole situation from the referendum, to allowing ill-gotten gains to further enrich particular individuals while impoverishing the poorest, to the way the government has handled it, makes me really wonder if we didn't push majority rule for all the wrong reasons. Perhaps we should have waited till we were morally ready.
