After one month of competition, the St Anne's Blue Waves walked away as champions of the first Soldanza Healthy Throwdown School Competition. A total of 10 schools participated in the initiative launched by Milo Butler Distributors. Representatives from the company presented students and faculty with their prize pack, including four laptops and accessories, Soldanza branded items and a floating trophy after the school purchased the most cases of product to win the grand prize.

Last summer, Milo Butler introduced the brand of organic plantain and cassava chips into the market as a light, healthy snack alternative. Shema Poitier, brand manager at the wholesale distribution company, spearheaded the contest.

"The response to our first Soldanza Healthy Throwdown School Competition was tremendous. We were successful in achieving our goal of introducing healthier snack options to our younger consumers in the school environment. This campaign was part of our response to the health crisis we are currently faced with as a nation as it relates to high incidences of lifestyle diseases like diabetes, obesity and hypertension," said Ms Poitier.

"Soldanza has been in the market for almost one year and it's a quality item that Bahamians are embracing as a healthy snack alternative. For students, we think that it was important to provide them with an option that is not only healthy and organic but also has an amazing taste that they would willingly consume."

Damian Butler, managing director at Milo Butler Group of Companies, attended the presentation at his alma mater. During the special assembly at the campus in Fox Hill, Mr Butler congratulated the school and encouraged students to stay focused on their goals and to dream big beyond the walls of St Anne's School.

The company plans on running another Soldanza Healthy Throwdown School Competition in the near future. Schools interested in participating are asked to contact Milo Butler Distributors' head office at 677-6380 or e-mail spoitier@milobutler.com.
