Ebenezer honours long-time member

By Vanessa C Smith

Rev Stephen Smith, Sister Krivoy Smith and the Ebenezer Union Baptist Church Exuma family recently honoured Nehmiah Rolle, who has faithfully served the church for four decades.

Mr Rolle was recognised during the church's 126th anniversary service.

During the service, Rev Stephen Smith highlighted Mr Rolle's dedication over the years. He served as an usher for 40 years, chauffeured the late Rev Dr Irvin Clarke Sr and performed various other church duties.

Rev Smith said Mr Rolle could be called on no matter the time of the day. He also noted that when he travels, Mr Rolle ensures that he is back in time for Sunday service, and that the dedicated member works diligently without ever seeking monetary gain.

Mr Rolle was showered with many gifts from the various departments of church, including a round-trip ticket to Nassau on Bahamasair, an air charter excursion by Shoreline Air Services to an island of his choice, dinner for two at the Grand Isle Pallapa restaurant, lunch at Froggy's Grille, a fill-up at Christine's Gas Station and a gift basket.

Mr Rolle expressed his thanks by singing, "I try to do my best in service, I try to do the best I can...The Lord will make a way some."

Rev Robin Thompson, pastor of Mount Sinai Union Baptist Church, was the speaker at the service. Rev Cedric Smith, President Emeritus of the Exuma District of the Bahamas Baptist Union, prayed for members of the Ebenezer family.

Also in attendance were Officer-in-Charge of the Exuma Police Department, Suaperintendent Rodney Williams, retired Administrator Everette and Mrs Hart, Don Rolle, members of the Anglican, the Church of God of Prophecy and the Baptist communities.
