We’re far too quiet on Khashoggi murder

 EDITOR, The Tribune

What is The Bahamas’ position of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi? We have not heard any word from Foreign Affairs whilst so many countries have spoken out strongly. The purpose of the UN Human Rights Council is to uphold Human Rights – surely this Khashoggi’s murder qualifies? Does The Bahamas have a position?

Under 25 years of PLP mis-governance this country never paid the dues owed to the United Nations. This would preclude us from making noise at the UN now unless we have somehow paid up our dues to date.

Understood. Yet that doesn't preclude our "leaders" from speaking out on things that matter. They would get the attention needed. I haven't paid my dues, well my monetary dues, either, but people are having a hard time shutting me up.

Has any Bahamian journalist ever been victimized or brutalized for his brave stance???????? ......... and do not call the names of Wilchombe, The Punch or Steve McKinney .............. smt

Our journalists (95%) are generally toothless tigers ............ even Candia is "tame".
