Wrong place for bank

EDITOR, The Tribune

So the most prime site in downtown Nassau has been transferred for the new Central Bank Building? Surely with any sense the Victoria Hotel site should have been allocated to new buildings for the Senate and House of Assembly, with annexed individual offices for MP’s and support staff and say a Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with appropriate reception facilities for visiting dignitaries? More than enough room…there would still be room for a public garden.

Central Bank should be on the Post Office site with the Law Courts. There is considerable land available, the footprint of the existing Post Office, plus land to the west and back to Police Headquarters. Again bad thinking or the total lack of consideration.

If the FNM is, or might have been transparent, ask the People. For as they say – This is the People’s Government, this decision should have been put to the People, to approve, not the 20-odd Cabinet Ministers!

Am I hearing correctly, the Special Town Planning Committee for the City of Nassau, has approved 8-10 story buildings in the re-development plan for the Nassau Waterfront? Well it is obvious that this Government has zero sense as to what the tourist wants to see!

The height of the buildings will be commensurate with the greed of the planners!
