A blueprint for success

Health coach Ethan Quant, of Elite Wellness Solutions, has succeeded in his weight loss journey and now wants to share his methods with the Bahamas in an effort to foster a culture of wellness and conquer the obesity epidemic.

During my arduous, yet fulfilling journey toward shedding 110 pounds (no, that number isn’t a typo), there were numerous times when I felt I would never be successful in losing the weight.

I recall trying to convince myself that maybe being overweight wasn’t such a bad thing. I tried to tell myself that perhaps I just needed to learn how to be comfortable in my own skin. Although deep down I knew I was lying to myself. I knew that being overweight was detrimental to my overall health. Truth be told, I was trying to justify quitting because it was the easy way out.

Then something happened. Honestly, I can’t recall exactly how the thought came to my mind. Maybe I heard it on a television show, or read it somewhere in a book. Nonetheless, I could not help but to think of the concept of self-success. I came to the realisation that I had experienced many instances where I beat the odds and found success in accomplishing my goals.

One of my greatest successes was starting my own company. I will never forget the feeling of fear that struck me as I left my “good bank job” to delve into the unknown. Although I understood the painstaking work involved in starting a business, I had confidence in my persistence and myself. I knew that success was waiting for me because I was willing to do anything that was required of me, no matter how long it took.

As a new business owner trying to establish my company, I would work extensive hours to ensure that operations were running smoothly. That meant dedicating ample amounts of time to learning new skills, meeting with clients and potential business partners, as well as trying to learn everything I could about the industry. I would research best practices and talk to people who knew exactly what it took to get where I wanted to be. I would utilise the knowledge obtained learning from experienced professionals, as well as from experimenting with different ideas until I found something that worked for me, until I found the success blueprint for my business.

Now I know you may be thinking, what does your entrepreneurial experience have to do with my health, wellness and fitness journey? My answer to that question is: everything.

I looked at what it took for me to become successful in business: commitment, drive, determination, learning new skills, experimenting, and consistency. Then I applied that to my journey toward losing weight.

I am almost certain that there are areas in your life that you have excelled at. It could be being an awesome mom or dad, being a great friend, being a faithful Christian, being an exceptional employee, or anything in between. Look at those areas of your life that you have already found success in and identify the success blueprint that you used to get there. Then apply that same blueprint to your health, wellness and fitness journey. I can guarantee you that you will find yourself succeeding once again.

How can you be so sure, you ask. Well, the answer is quite simple; the principles of success are universal. Therefore, once you have the blueprint it can be applied to anything that you are determined to achieve.
