Giving Bahamians a place where they can mix, mingle and enjoy good, clean fun in a faith-based environment is the goal of a new venue in Nassau called The Christian Lounge.

The brainchild of Ivaneccia Smith, the Lounge, located on Faith Avenue, was officially opened this month to give Christians an alternative way to party and socialise. However, non-Christians are also invited to join in the fun, she said.

“Every night there is something exciting going on at the Lounge. Monday and Tuesday is free all night. On Wednesday we have open mic night, on Thursdays we have hot topics or movie night. Friday we have karaoke, Saturday prayer breakfast and celebrity crunk Saturday, and on Sunday we have ‘give thanks Sunday’.”

Happy hour is every night from 5pm to 7pm. Admission is free. Food and non-alcoholic mixed drinks are served at the Lounge.

“What inspired me to open the Lounge is because being a young Christian lady and having my own ministry I realise that we as Christians don’t have anywhere in Nassau where we can socialise, have clean fun and meet new people while being in a faith-based environment,” said Ivaneccia.

Since opening a week ago, Ivaneccia said those in religious circles have responded positively and are looking forward to what the Lounge has to offer.

“The grand opening concert was very well attended and the week since it’s opening as well. The attendees love the delicious food, ambience, activities and music,” she told Tribune Religion.

For The Christian Lounge to have a longevity, Ivaneccia said it has to be a place where people can hang out and also receive wisdom and knowledge.

“We will be hosting various seminar sessions beginning on January 28 until April 28,” she noted.

“The seminar will be hosted by myself and I will be speaking under the dynamic theme ‘You are an Overcomer’. So The Christian Lounge is a place to have fun, but also a place where lives are also transformed.”
