FOUR occupants of a home where three men were killed by police on Friday were arraigned on charges of possessing unlicenced firearms, ammunition and dangerous drugs with the intent to supply.

The four include Kim Smith, 57, Shaquille Molley, 19, Christina Wilson, 19 and Jane Hilton, 56.

They were charged with possessing two silver .9mm pistols without a licence, a .45m pistol without a licence, 7.45mm ammunition and 23.2 pounds of Indian hemp with a street value of $23,200. They pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

Three of the four all alleged they were abused by officers. Smith alleged Police Sergeant 2816 Munnings kicked her in the stomach during her arrest on Sunday, her lawyer, Christina Galanos, said in court.

Ms Galanos said her client claimed the female officer told her: “You’re not going to bring another killer into this world.” Smith said she is three months pregnant.

Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt made note of a visible scab on Molley’s forehead. His lawyer, Ian Jupp, claimed Molley was asleep on a downstairs couch when officers entered and awoke him with a gun-butt to his head. Mr Jupp said his client has not received medical attention, adding that the “laceration” on Molley’s head appeared to be about an inch and a quarter in length.

Wilver Delevaux, the lawyer representing Wilson, said his client claims male police officers punched her in her face, forcing her to fall to the ground where she injured her knee and was stomped on her back. Delevaux said Wilson may be pregnant, adding she has visible marks on her back and shoulder.

Chief Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt allowed the accused to speak with members of their families at the end of the arraignment. Smith, Wilson and several of their relatives then broke down in tears.

The Magistrate’s Court lacks jurisdiction to grant them bail so the four were remanded to prison. They attempted to make a bail application in the Supreme Court yesterday but could not do so. The Tribune understands they will attempt to secure bail today.

Their trial has been set for October 22.
