THE Royal Bahamas Defence Force demonstrated excellence in fitness at the Bahamas Law Enforcement Cooperative Credit Union Fun Run and Walk competition on Saturday.

In the runners’ segment, Lieutenant Commander Derrick Ferguson placed first in the under-50 male category, leading woman marines Lashonna Williams and Natasha Major were the top two female finishers in the under-40 female category. Marine seamen Nakeito Thurston and Dominic Williamson placed 1st and 2nd in the under-30 male category and Woman Marine Alexis Strachan was 1st in the under-30 female category. Leading Mechanic Pedric Dixon came 2nd in the under-40 male category.

For the walkers, Marine Seaman Larry Rolle placed first in the under-30 male category and Senior Lieutenant Shawn Adderley and Lieutenant Thora Gardiner placed 2nd in the under-50 male and female categories respectively.

Celebrating the theme “Your Health is Your Wealth”, the race began at the Law Enforcement Credit Union headquarters on Collins Avenue and took the participants on to Shirley Street, over the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge and back to the starting point.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to build community team spirit and camaraderie among public and partner agencies as it protects the territorial waters of The Bahamas.
