RBDF marines have a great showing at Half Marathon

KUDOS to the officers and marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force for a great showing at the Roadmasters’ 7th annual Bahamas (Bahamas Half) Marathon race last Saturday.

The RBDF had a total of two relay teams in the competition.

The team (RBDF Commandos) of Marine Seaman Wellington Ramsey and Marvin Minns placed first overall with a total finish time of one hour thirty one minutes and nine seconds (1:31:09) followed by another team (RBDF) consisting of Leading Seaman Quincy King, Able Seaman James Carey and Marine Seaman Stefon Brown placing second overall with a total finish time of one hour, 50 minutes and 52 seconds (1:50:52).

Lieutenant Commander Derrick Ferguson was the other Defence Force participant who completed the half marathon.

The race commenced from Arawak Cay onto West Bay Street to the Sun Fun Beach Resort and back to Arawak Cay.

The runners ran a total of 6.2 miles and the walkers covered a distance of 3.1 miles.
