Attention seeking by former PMs

EDITOR, The Tribune.

IT was so, so sad to see the two former Prime Ministers on TV Wednesday night. Both are retired and in their 70s.

Perry Christie and Hubert Ingraham said their press conference was about the hurricane response, but we all know that was not what it was about.

Both men love politics and attention. Neither has been able to find another vocation he finds fulfilling since being voted out of office. So what they did on Wednesday was have a spectacle of a press conference for attention.

The Government of the Bahamas has invited in the big relief agencies from around the world. Major first world countries are on the ground too like the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Our Caricom countries are here as well.

Prime Minister Minnis is leading a coordinated international response. Because of his good reputation around the world organisations and countries are willing to help.

The former Prime Ministers must accept that their time for leading is over. The people voted Mr Ingraham out in 2012, and Mr Christie out in 2017. Neither man will ever be Prime Minister again.

It is disgraceful that the former Prime Ministers were on TV begging for attention. This is a crisis. Bahamians expect better than that from them.
