A SUSPECT is in hospital after he was wounded during a shoot-out with police in New Providence on Friday.
Police said shortly before 10pm, officers responded to a Shot Spotter alert at Woods Alley and Flint Street. As the officers approached the scene, they observed a man “engaged in an exchange of gunfire with an unidentified armed suspect,” a police report said.
“The suspect, on seeing the police, directed his gunfire toward the officers. The officers returned fire, injuring the suspect and subsequently subduing him,” police added.
Police also said a Glock 19 pistol was retrieved from the suspect. He was later taken to hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
An investigation into this matter continues.
