THE message of the gospel, though profound, is simple: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16)”.

It’s a scripture many are taught early on in their Christian experience. Some were even taught to commit it to memory during their Sunday school days as it sums up in one sentence the heartbeat of the gospel, the Bible and the Christian faith.

This message of believing in a saviour, Jesus Christ, who came to free humanity from the bondage of sin and eternal damnation has been preached throughout the ages and is shared from the pulpits today. However, some Bible teachers, in Minister Keith Evans’ estimation, have been presenting an unnecessarily complicated version of this simple message.

And to address this issue, he put pen to paper and the result is his new book, “The 3 Vital Steps to Salvation”.

“What inspired this most important book was the concern that most churches have complicated the simplicity of salvation. Salvation, according to scripture, is simple and not some convoluted thing. I wanted to present a simple presentation that anyone, including a child, could comprehend. ‘The 3 Vital Steps to Salvation’ is a theological and doctrinally orthodox book for all churches and schools to utilise in studying the concept of salvation,” Minister Evans told Tribune Religion.

The book, he said, is filled with scripture-proof texts to support his stance, and it can be very usual tool for evangelism and witnessing.

“The overall message of the book is salvation comes through faith in Jesus, and not through our denominational dogmas that have blinded so many. It is a very good read and will serve to be a vitally important book in your library. The book deals with confession, repentance and belief, which are the steps towards salvation,” he said.

Minister Evans is a licenced minister with the Bahamas District of the Churches of the Nazarene. He is also the youth pastor of the Solid Rock Church of the Nazarene. Additionally, he also hosts a radio show, ‘Wake Up Everybody Show’, that airs on Dove 103.7 FM. He is the founder of the Wake Up Everybody organisation, an online ministry on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter which reaches thousands worldwide. He is also a part of Team Mission Bahamas, an evangelistic outreach that is actively organising missions.

His “come to Jesus moment”, he said, came at a very young age. He has now been preaching for nearly 23 years.

Whether he is preaching from the pulpit, sharing his beliefs on the airwaves, evangelising or writing a book, Minister Evans said he ensures that in spreading the gospel of Jesus the simplicity of the message remains intact so that audiences can easily grasp it.

“I believe that it is imperative and fundamentally important to address this need. The vast majority of people don’t really understand what is to be saved. Thus, it was incumbent upon yours truly to put pen to paper to promulgate the doctrine of salvation through faith in Christ. It is important because we have conflated salvation with church membership. Being affiliated with any particular church won’t save anyone. I wanted to reach as many as possible with writing this book,” he said.

‘The 3 Vital Steps to Salvation’ is available on Amazon and Protype. He said the book has already been purchased by people in the US and other parts of the world.

A second book he has written, “The Big Bad Bully in Me”, will be published at a later time.
