THREE men were charged in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court last week with several offences, including shopbreaking, stealing and causing damage.
Leonardo Hall, 22, and Ken Barrington Webb, 21, both of Hunters, and Warren Tracey Taylor, 21, of Pinder’s Point were charged with two counts of shop breaking, two counts of causing damage and one count of stealing from a shop in connection with an incident reported to police on December 23, 2019.
The trio pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the matters were adjourned.
They were remanded in custody at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until March 16 for trial.
Stephen Archer, aka Warren Johnson, 54, of Pinedale, Eight Mile Rock, was also arraigned on four counts of stealing from a vehicle and three counts of causing damage.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to three consecutive months in prison. Archer was also ordered to pay damages of $305 and to serve six months in prison.
If he fails to compensate the complainants, Archer will serve one year in prison.
In a separate matter, a Freeport woman was charged with receiving.
Immacula Jones, 64, of Hearne Lane, Freeport, pleaded not guilty to three counts of receiving. The charges stem from an incident reported to police on December 27, 2019 where four government vehicles were broken into and batteries stolen.
The matter was adjourned to April 29.
Meanwhile an Abaco man was recently charged in the Eight Mile Rock Magistrate’s Court with attempted murder.
Obrien Reckley, 26, of Murphy Town, Abaco, appeared before Magistrate Gwendolyn Claude. He was not required to enter a plea to the attempted murder charge.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Monday, December 23, 2019 in West End, Grand Bahama.
The case was adjourned to March 5.
