Stop these attacks on children

EDITOR, The Tribune

It is absolutely pathetic and heart-breaking that in situations where armed conflict breaks out, children who are the most vulnerable members of societies are mostly affected by the consequences of war. The six most common violations are recruitment and use of children in war, killing, sexual violence, abduction, attacks on schools and hospitals and denial of humanitarian access. Millions of children globally are caught up in conflicts in which they are not merely bystanders, but targets.

As every 4th of June is the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, we have to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. People should voice their concerns about the inadequate protection of the rights of children particularly in conflict environments.
