It's never too late to do the right thing, Dr Minnis

EDITOR, The Tribune

While listening to the Prime Minister’s address, I was very pleased to hear from his own lips that the web shops are NOT able to restart business under the curbside pickup or home delivery rules, although I’m sure they’ll leave no stone unturned searching for other ways around this edict. Thank you Dr. Minnis, calmer and more sane minds have prevailed. On the country’s return to normalcy, if there has to be some form of legalised gambling in the Bahamas to appease the baser desires of our people, I am of the opinion that a National Lottery would more benefit both the Public Purse and the gambling public.

This, rather than allowing the select few to continue the economic and financial rape of our communities and the exploitation of our poorer people who can least afford it, but are those most vulnerable and afflicted by this scourge.

It is not too late to right this wrong which was underhandedly perpetrated on us by previous governments, it’s never too late to do the right thing!

I call for a public opinion poll on this question …….. settle it once and for all …….. Make it a 2022 election issue ……… The FNM must deliver on their promise of a National Lottery ….. The Treasury coffers are empty and it needs every dollar ………. Either collect HALF of the webshop gross income OR set up a National Lottery (which ever one will gross the highest income).

No need for another public opinion poll brudda sheep, we already had one a dem but crooked Christie called it a referendum and then still ignored the voice of the people and rammed the webshops down their throats in exchange for numbers campaign money and other questionable "donations" to dat Party.

Will those with baser desires and the poorer people be able to buy lottery tickets??

Mabon has made it clear that he has problems with those who own web shops. but not with the eleven families who own the majority of the shipping Port and will soon earn the cruise port.

poor, poor doc. misguided and bewiled..

Birdie, why you don't crawl back down your crab hole and have another mouthful of that stuff crab does eat. It cost a dollar to buy a lottery ticket with a chance to win millions, how much grocery and rent money these people spinning out in the numbers house? And by the way, ain only white people or FNM's got shares in the shipping port and the new port bond offer is out there for anyone to purchase right now never mind if they black or white, the smart money would be on that sort of investment not paying Sebas dem dividends.
