AN Eleuthera man who was accused of threatening to kill his mother and harm two other people was yesterday denied bail ahead of his trial.
Police said Dion Cummings, 36, threatened to harm Idell Johnson in Greencastle, Eleuthera, on July 11. They also said the defendant threatened to kill Herbert McKinney on July 10, and alleged he issued death threats to his mother, Isabel Cummings, on October 8.
During his hearing before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans yesterday, Cummings denied all of the allegations. As a result, his case was adjourned to December 9 for trial in Eleuthera.
Cummings was denied bail and remanded in custody until that time. He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
Yesterday, a 33-year-old woman also appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes for similar offences. Tess Pratt was accused of threatening to kill Glenn Woodside and Geralone Cadet on September 2. She was further accused of damaging Woodside’s $70 cell phone and assaulting him with a pipe that same day.
During her arraignment, Pratt denied the charges and her matter was adjourned to November 19 for trial before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt. After pleading not guilty to all of the offences, Pratt was denied bail.
Her attorney, Bjorn Ferguson, said he was in the process of applying to a judge in the Supreme Court for his client’s release.
