Kadeem, Mark and Travis top performers among Bahamians

KADEEM Coleby, Mark St Fort and Travis Munnings were several of the top performers among Bahamian basketball players active in their respective programmes over the weekend.

In the Japanese B-League, Kadeem Coleby helped his Akita Northern Happinets to get back into the win column after a three-game losing streak.

The Happinets’ pair of wins over the Yokohama B-Corsairs brought their record to 6-3 on the season.

In game one, Coleby finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 68-48 win followed by 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a 70-68 win.

The veteran in the frontcourt is averaging 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 73 percent from the field.

Mark St Fort posted a season high scoring effort and also ended a three-game losing streak for his Niigata Albirex club.

St Fort scored a game high 26 points on 10-15 shooting from the field in an 86-81 win over Kyoto Hannaryz.

It was his second time scoring in double figures in five games with the club.

St Fort signed with the Niigata Albirex after he played sparingly in two contests with the Mikawa Seahorses to begin the season.

He finished with 13 points and five rebounds in his first appearance for Niigata, an 89-75 loss to the Ryukyu Golden Kings.

On the season, he is averaging 7.7 points on 63 percent shooting from the field and 57 percent from three-point range.

On the heels of a season high scoring effort in his last outing, Travis Munnings followed with his first double double of the year in Portugal’s Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB).

Munnings finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for UD Oliveirense in their 80-68 win over Maia Basket to improve to 3-0.

Last week, Munnings finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists to help in an 88-57 win over Galitos-Barreiro.

Oliveirense is the two-time defending champion and Munnings joined their quest for a third consecutive title after last season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the season, Munnings is averaging 16 points, eight rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

In the French Nationale Masculine 2 (NM2) League, Dominick Bridgewater continues to lead Sapela 13, now 4-0 on the season. He finished with 14 points in a 96-79 win over Sorgues BC.

Bridgewater is averaging 16.7 points and 10.4 assists per game with three double doubles in four games.

A member of the For-Sur-Mer Provence Byers Club, he was placed on loan to Sapela Basket 13 this offseason and his promotion to NM2 is the highest of his career thus far.
