Man accused of illegal gun possession

A FREEPORT man was charged with illegal gun and ammunition possession in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court this week.

Anibar Ferdinand, 40, of Oleander Street, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson on charges of possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

It is alleged on September 21, at Freeport, the accused was found in possession of a black Smith & Wesson pistol with 17 .9mm hollow tip rounds of ammunition.

Ferdinand pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until January 25, 2021 for trial.
