A 21-year-old man was yesterday charged with murder in the Magistrate’s Court.

Jason Lamm appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with the death of Antonio Russell on March 1.

According to initial police reports, shortly before 10pm police were alerted to the sound of gunshots emanating from the eastern direction of Bernard Road. When officers responded to the complaint, they found a male lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds just outside the northeastern boundary of L W Young High School. When Emergency Medical Services visited the scene, they pronounced the victim lifeless.

During his hearing, Lamm was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to June 29 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

The accused was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

Yesterday, another 21-year-old man was denied bail after he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Police said Shaquille Burrows tried to kill Horatio Higgs and Craig Collie on April 2. They further alleged the accused used a firearm to endanger the life of Perez Richardson and accused him of causing $800 worth of damage to a woman’s burgundy coloured Nissan Cube that same day.

Due to the nature of the offences, the accused was not required to enter a plea. He returns to court on July 7 to be presented with a VBI. In the interim, Burrows was denied bail and remanded into custody.

Like Lamm, he also has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
