A COVID-19 ambassador yesterday testified of noticing a red flag on the COVID test of a man who was attempting to travel earlier this year.
Joseph Wallace Whitfield was arrested after he was accused of attempting to travel with a fraudulent Doctor’s Hospital health system negative COVID-19 RT PCR test on March 31.
He denied possessing and uttering a forged document when he first appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney and the case was adjourned for trial.
When Jennifer Bonaby gave evidence during the proceedings, the COVID ambassador said she was stationed at the domestic terminal at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA).
She said when Whitfield approached her desk around 6.05am, she asked him to show her his health visa, ID as well as his negative COVID test. She said when he presented the required travel documents, she noticed a “red flag” on the COVID test.
Ms Bonaby said this prompted her to take a photo of the document and send it to a nurse at Doctor’s Hospital. She said “moments later” the medical professional called her back with her “findings” which prompted her to contact the Airport Police Station.
The case continues on September 15.
