YOUNG Bahamian baseball players continue to progress and climb the ladder in the pipeline of their respective organisations.
After just nine games in the Dominican Summer League (DSL), Kristin Munroe has moved up to the No. 26 prospect in the Los Angeles Angels’ organisation.
The 17-year-old infielder, who signed in May and received his first minor league assignment in June, is hitting .240 with a .726 OPS, .406 OBP, two doubles, four RBI, seven runs scored, and four stolen bases. In his debut, Munroe went 3-4 with four RBI and scored two runs in a 14-0 win for his DSL Angels over the DSL Marlins on July 24. In his first plate appearance, he drove in his first pro RBI with his double to right field in the second inning. Munroe joins D’Shawn Knowles (No.11) on the club’s Top 30 Prospect List, according to MLB Pipeline.
Ian Lewis, the Miami Marlins’ No.29 ranked prospect in its pipeline, continues to produce for the club in the Florida Complex League (FCL).
In his last appearance, the 18-year-old infielder hit his third home run of the season in a 14-3 win over the FCL Cardinals on Wednesday night.
His three-run homer came in the eighth inning as a part of a six-run frame as the Marlins continued the rout.
Lewis has three multi-hit games on the season and also hit a two-run home run in his FCL debut. Through 27 games, he is hitting .247 with a .795 OPS, with 23 hits - including six doubles and four triples, three home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs, and two stolen bases.
Also in the Miami Marlins’ organisation, Steven Adderley progressed from the DSL to join Lewis in the FCL.
Adderley, an 18-year-old outfielder who signed to the organisation in April, had just two DSL appearances, opening with an RBI double in his debut.
The FCL, formerly the Gulf Coast League and the Arizona Complex League (ACL), formerly known as the AZL, are rookie-level Minor League Baseball leagues that are the first rung on the minor-league ladder.
No team can have more than three players with four or more years of minor-league experience.
