Those in need?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

The act of giving…simple charity is a wonderful act which must be encouraged and supported, but persons who are far from in need must not take advantage of ‘free this and that’ especially at this time when we still have suffering people in our community. The News video of the church giving for thanksgiving was a perfect example…were all those who put out their hands really in need?

Free is the most enticing word in the English language, but NGO’s - Social Services - Churches must be disciplined that what is given to be distributed is only given to the needy.

I am reasonably sure in the height of COVID many hundreds – could be more – took absolute advantage of Social Services.

There is a video on local social media showing a person pushing a wheelchair to their usual spot for pan handling/begging .... Editor in my opinion the person is not handicapped and is begging, I suggest, under false pretences ... of so, where are the Police?

We also have to be careful in our public comment against the foreign community who donate millions to NGO’s and Charities to support those NGO programmes millions annually for which we all must be very thankful for their generosity. Thanks.

Too many who deserve and need go without whilst imposters with full bellies and refrigerators put out their hands!
